Srinagar: Over two hundreds passenger vehicles were stranded on Srinagar-Jammu highway near Banihal as authorities halt them on the thoroughfare amid visit of NIA team after a private car went up in flames near a CRPF vehicle after an explosion, apparently caused by a gas cylinder, around the Jawahar Tunnel in Ramban district.
Reports said that the vehicles with children and women on board were not allowed to proceed by the police and government forces.
“It’s highly unfair on part of the authorities not to allow us proceed,” said a group of tourists, stranded on the highway near Banihal.
Deputy commissioner Ramban told INS that he has deputed SDM to see the thoroughfare, only surface link connecting Kashmir with outside world, was through was traffic.
