Srinagar: The weatherman on Sunday forecast ‘mainly dry’ weather in Kashmir Valley upto April 5 even as night temperature remained above normal in most parts of the Valley.

“There would be mainly dry weather from today upto 5th April,” a meteorological department official said.

He that Srinagar, the summer capital of the state, recorded a minimum temperature of 7.0 degrees Celsius last night against 6.1 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season.

The official said that Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir, recorded a low of 7.8 degrees Celsius while the mercury in Kokernag town in south Kashmir settled at a low of 6.6 degrees Celsius. Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a minimum of 1.8 degrees Celsius and was the only place where night temperature was less than normal (4.5 degree Celsius.) Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, witnessed a low of minus 0.8 degrees Celsius, equal the normal for this time of the year. The famous health resort of Pahalgam recorded a minimum of 3.0 degrees Celsius  against normal of 1.6 degrees Celsius, the official added.
