Srinagar: A day after a sub-inspector of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) ended life in Baramulla district of north Kashmir, a trooper of the paramilitary force took the extreme step by shooting himself here on Sunday.
Official sources said Constable Ramphul Meena of ITBP’s 11 battalion shot himself with his service rifle (INSAS) at a camp near Sericulture Office Solina in this summer capital of the state. The personnel suffered serious injuries and soon his colleagues removed him to SHMS hospital. However doctors who attended upon him declared him brought dead. It is not yet known why the officer took the extreme step, police said. A case has been registered.
On Saturday, Sub-Inspector Chandar Mani shot himself with his service rifle at a CRPF camp in Kunzar area of the north Kashmir district, they said.
