Police rescues two students from Sonamarg glacier

Ganderbal:  Two students who were trapped near a glacier at Sonamarg in this central Kashmir district were rescued by police.

According to reports, around 7 p.m. Police Station Sonamarg received an information that two Students from KIE Higher secondary school Lasjan Srinagar who were on a picnic to Sonamarg got trapped at the Glacier.

An official said that a group of students left for tracking to Thajiwas Glacier. All but two students returned safely. One of the students identified as Naveed Ahmad Khan Son of Farooq Ahmad Khan resident of Munat Yaripora Kulgam and Shahid Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Hamid Lone resident of Arigam Pulwama had got injured after a fall near the glacier.

Soon after being informed, Sonamarg police launched a rescue operation headed by SHO Sonamarg Manzoor Ahmad. The rescue team immediately rushed to the spot and rescued both students safely.
