Baramulla: Police Tuesday claimed that they have apprehended three over-ground workers (OGWs) of Hizbul Mujahideen and recovered two Chinese pistols from their possession in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
A Police official said that police, Army’s 29 RR and CRPF apprehended the three suspects at a joint naka at Behrampora Tilgam crossing and recovered three Chinese pistols and ammunition from their possession.
Those arrested were identified as Waseem Ahmed Mir, son of Nazir Ahmed Mir, resident of Andergam Pattan; Umer Hassan Rather, son of Gh Hassan Rather, resident of Achabal Sopore and Akif Hussain Rather, son of Gh Hassan Rather, resident of Achbal Sopore.
“On sustained questioning, the trio admitted that they are working for Hizbul Mujahideen outfit and are motivating young boys into militancy. These individuals have been long time conduits of militants in North Kashmir playing a major role in enticing young boys to join militancy,” said the official.
He said the network was being spearheaded by Hizbul Mujahideen commander Parvez Wani alias Mubashir, resident of Galoora Handwara.
“This network was not only luring young boys into join militancy but also providing all logistic support to them in Andergam Pattan and Sopore areas.”
A case FIR No 57/2017 under sections 13 Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, [ULA (P) Act] has been registered in Police station Kreeri and further investigation is going on, said the official. (CNS)
