Poonch, July 21: Residents of Poonch have alleged that several private water tanker operators are charging Rs 1,500 or more per tanker, adding to the difficulties of families already affected by the ongoing water crisis.

The residents have appealed to the Lieutenant Governor, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Poonch and the Public Health Engineering (PHE) Department to take strict action against private tanker operators found overcharging and exploiting the prevailing situation. They have urged the administration to regulate tanker rates and ensure the supply of safe drinking water at reasonable prices.

Many residents also expressed dissatisfaction with the response of the PHE Department, alleging that despite the department having its own water tankers, the current supply has not been sufficient to meet the needs of the affected population. They urged the administration to strengthen water distribution and ensure adequate supply to all affected areas at the earliest.
