JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Dr Mandeep K Bhandari today held a meeting with all Deputy Commissioners of Jammu province through video conferencing to review the preparation of the administration to deal with any future flood situation during upcoming rainy season and other natural disaster.
IGP Jammu Dr. S D Singh Jamwal, DC Jammu Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, Director FCS & CA, Director Health Services, Chief Engineers PWD, PHE and I&FC Jammu, Joint Director Information Jammu, Joint Commissioner JMC and other concerned officers of Police and divisional administration were present in the meeting.
During the meeting, Dr. Bhandari discussed preparedness cum rescue plan in case of flood situation and stressed the need for coordinated strategy to deal with flood like situations. He directed the concerned agencies to always be in state of preparedness. ‘People should also be advised appropriately of the preventive measures to be taken to deal with the flood like situations’, he added.
The meeting also discussed in detail the precautionary measures to be taken in the flood prone areas along rivers and flood channels.
Divisional Commissioner directed the concerned department to ensure clearance of all drains well in advance in the bazaars to avoid any water blockage during monsoon. He directed SDRF and other concerned authorities to register their volunteers who can provide their services during emergencies.
Dr. Bhandari was briefed about present status by the concerned departments about the availability of necessary equipment and other resources to deal with the floods and other emergencies.
Deputy Commissioners of various districts briefed the meeting about the measures taken by the department to deal with the flood situations and other natural disaster besides financial and physical status of SDRF stores.
Threadbare discussion were also held on other vital issues mainly include availability of essential commodities, medical facilities, establishment of control rooms, identification of locations during any disasters, helicopter service, etc.
While reviewing the status of availability of fire extinguishers in various government buildings, the Divisional Commissioner directed the DCs to get fire audit at the earliest and take all necessary intervention in this regard.
The meeting was informed that 24 x 7 control room has been set up to monitor the situation and for timely coordinated action in each district.
