SRINAGAR: A committee under the chairmanship of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan today discussed various strategies to de-congest the city that includes identifying and abolishing the unauthorized Auto, Sumo and Mini-bus stops and stands, identification of 32 locations and sites by the concerned authorities for purpose of Auto and Sumo stands.
Issue regarding 2 sites belonging to Srinagar Development Authority in the list of 32 sites where excess land is available for accommodating large number of Autos and Sumos, besides encroachments of roads and streets by shopkeepers etc. which leads to traffic congestion and installation of more number of traffic lights and signals so as to decongest the traffic in the city was also discussed threadbare.
The Divisional Commissioner directed the officers of Transport Department, Srinagar Development Authority and Srinagar Municipal Corporation to collect census data of all Sumo, Auto and Minibus stands and submit the complete report thereby.
Regarding other issues, Khan also passed necessary directions to ensure removal of all bottlenecks immediately for the traffic de-congestion in the Srinagar city.
Other members of the committee include Transport Commissioner, Vice Chairman Srinagar Development Authority, and Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation.
