Quarrying Labourers protested at ganderbal today and  blocked Srinagar-leh highway at beehama ganderbal against lease policy of government.
Thousands of labourers from waheedpora, watalbagh,arch,bobsipora,wayel associated with the extraction of sand, bolders, bajri in various areas of assembled and demanded revocation of auction for work in sindh nala.
District President Goodwill Labourers union ganderbal said that the ban on quarrying had effected livelihood of thousands of labourers in the ganderbal district.
They said government is going to conduct auction of mining lease of minor minerals for the period of five years under SRO 105.
When contacted ADC ganderbal Shahnawaz bukhari said in District Ganderbal 7 blocks have been identified and will be auctioned on 16th November.
ADC ganderbal said government had termed quarrying in the areas illegal according to SRO 105.
ADC also said no machinery will be used for quarrying in the said blocks after lease local Labourers will be engaged for quarrying.
