Srinagar, June 08: In a major blow to the narcotics network operating in the Valley, Srinagar Police on Monday attached immovable properties worth nearly ₹4 crore belonging to two alleged drug peddlers under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, as part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.”

According to officials, Police Station Sangam attached properties valued at approximately ₹3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar, son of Ghulam Mohammad Dar, in connection with FIR No. 14/2026 registered under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The attached assets include a residential house, parcels of land and several commercial shops.

Investigations revealed that the properties had allegedly been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking, prompting authorities to initiate attachment proceedings under the relevant provisions of the law.

In another significant action, Police Station Nowhatta attached a residential property worth around ₹1 crore belonging to Mohd Shafi Sheikh, son of Late Mohd Subhan Sheikh, in connection with FIR No. 09/2018 registered under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act. The property was identified as an illegally acquired asset allegedly created through drug-related activities.

Police said the attachment of these assets was undertaken to prevent their concealment, transfer or disposal, thereby striking at the financial foundations of the drug trade.

Reaffirming its commitment to combating the menace of narcotics, Srinagar Police said it will continue to target both drug traffickers and the assets generated through their criminal activities under the ongoing anti-drug campaign.

The police urged citizens to join hands in the collective fight against substance abuse and contribute towards building a drug-free Kashmir.
