Srinagar, Apr 20: Twenty one people have died and 61 others were injured in the tragic Ramnagar–Udhampur road accident on Monday.
Dr Singh in a post on X said, “Further update accident Ramnagar–Udhampur, 21 casualties so far and 61 injured. Injured have been shifted to Udhampur Hospital while one more seriously injured is being airlifted to Government Medical College Jammu. My sincere condolences to the bereaved families. All possible assistance is being provided. My office is in constant touch.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in the tragic bus accident in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking to X, Prime Minister’s PMO office worte, he was pained to hear about the incident and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. “I extend my heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their near and dear ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said.
The Prime Minister also announced ex-gratia relief, stating that ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will be given to the next of kin of each deceased, while the injured will receive ₹50,000 as assistance.
Moreover, the office of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah announced immediate relief for the victims from the CM Relief Fund.
It said, “While no amount of financial assistance can ever make up for the irreparable loss of lives in the tragic Udhampur road accident, as an immediate succour, the Chief Minister has announced immediate relief: ₹2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased, ₹1 lakh to those seriously injured, and ₹25,000 to those with minor injuries.”
