Udhampur, Apr 20: At least twelve persons were killed and several others injured after a passenger bus met with an accident near Jalo area on the Ramnagar–Udhampur route on Monday.

A senior police official said that the bus was on its way from Ramnagar to Udhampur when it met with the accident under unclear circumstances.

“Twelve people have lost their lives, several are injured, and rescue teams are on the spot,” a senior police officer said.

Further details regarding the cause of the accident are awaited.

Police and local administration teams have launched a rescue operation at the site and are evacuating the injured to nearby medical facilities.

DIG Udhampur Shiv Kumar Sharma has also reached the spot to oversee the rescue and relief operations. (KNC)
