Srinagar/Jammu, Mar 23: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan is set to chair a high-level meeting on Monday to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir and review the financial status of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) for the financial year, along with its requirements for 2026–27.

Official sources said that the meeting, scheduled for 2:30 pm, will be held via video conferencing from New Delhi, with top civil and police officials from the Union Territory participating.

Sources said senior officers including Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Home Secretary Chandraker Bharti, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, senior officials from Police Headquarters, and IGPs of both Jammu and Kashmir zones will join the meeting.

The review assumes significance as security forces have intensified search operations in upper reaches and forest areas to track down terrorists and dismantle their support networks. The meeting is also taking place close to the end of the financial year 2025–26.

Sources added that the Union Home Secretary is expected to take stock of ongoing anti-terror operations, particularly in mountainous regions of Jammu division where presence of foreign militants is suspected. With the onset of summer, security agencies are likely to further step up operations in these areas.

The role of Over Ground Workers (OGWs) and efforts to dismantle their networks will also come under discussion, as security agencies continue to crack down on support systems aiding militants.

In addition to security, the financial performance of JKP during the current fiscal and its budgetary requirements for the upcoming year will also be reviewed. Officials said the police force continues to undergo modernization with advanced equipment, though further upgrades are under consideration.
