Focus now on rehab, reconstruction in flood-hit Poonch: CM Omar

Poonch, Aug 5: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said the government’s immediate focus is on rehabilitation and reconstruction in flood-hit areas of Poonch following the completion of rescue and recovery operations.

Interacting with people affected by the recent floods, the Chief Minister said assistance will be provided to affected families and damaged infrastructure will be restored on priority.

He added that additional relief, including free ration, will be considered based on proposals submitted by the district administration.

CM Abdullah also reviewed the ongoing relief and restoration measures with officials and directed them to expedite work to bring normalcy back to the affected areas.

Moreover, Chief Minister visited Murrah in Surankote to offer condolences to the family that lost its loved ones in the recent cloudburst.

He expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and assured it of all possible assistance and support from the Government.
