Srinagar, Nov 28: Kashmir Valley woke up to an intense cold wave on Thursday night as temperatures plunged across the region, with Srinagar recording its coldest night of the season at -4.5°C, according to data compiled by Kashmir Weather.

As per details, most places in Kashmir remained below the freezing point.

Pahalgam shivered at -5.5°C, while Pampore and Pulwama dipped to -6.0°C and -6.2°C respectively.

Shopian remained among the coldest spots at -6.7°C, followed by Baramulla at -5.9°C, Anantnag at -6.2°C, and Budgam & Kupwara both touching -4.8°C.

Other recorded temperatures include:
Qazigund (-4.4°C), Bandipora (-4.9°C), Awantipora (-4.8°C), Ganderbal (-3.5°C), Sonamarg (-3.8°C) and Kulgam (-2.8°C).
Gulmarg remained relatively milder at -1.4°C, while Kokernag settled at -1.8°C.
In north Kashmir, Zethan Rafiabad touched -5.3°C.

The coldest point across the region continued to be Zojila Pass, freezing at a severe -16.0°C.

In the Jammu region, most areas stayed above freezing, with Jammu recording 9.4°C, Katra 8.2°C, Kathua 8.2°C, and Jammu Airport 9.8°C.
Higher reaches, however, experienced colder conditions.

Bhaderwah (-0.5°C), Rajouri (1.4°C), Ramban (3.2°C), Batote (3.6°C), Udhampur (3.6°C), Doda (2.9°C), Kishtwar (3.5°C), Reasi (6.4°C) and Banihal (3.6°C).

In Ladakh, winter tightened its hold as Leh recorded -8.6°C, Kargil -9.6°C, and Nubra Valley -8.3°C.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted mainly dry weather over Jammu & Kashmir for the next one week, with cloudy conditions likely on December 2 and 3.
