Jammu, Sept 26: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Jammu and Kashmir has filed a chargesheet against former Vice Chairman of Jammu Development Authority (JDA), Vinod Sharma, and others in connection with an illegal plot allotment and encroachment case in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu.

The chargesheet was produced before the Court of Special Judge, Anti-Corruption, Jammu in case FIR No. 18/2014, registered under Section 5(1)(d) read with Section 5(2) of the J&K Prevention of Corruption Act, Svt. 2006, and Section 120-B RPC.

Those named in the chargesheet include Vinod Sharma, his wife Mamta Sharma, Ghany Sham (then Naib Tehsildar, JDA, now retired and deceased), and Rishi Kumar (then Patwari, JDA, also retired and deceased).

According to ACB, the case originated from a verification conducted by the then Vigilance Organization (now ACB) into allegations of the illegal allotment of Plot No. 42 in Sector-1A of Trikuta Nagar, Jammu. Investigators found that Mamta Sharma, wife of the then Vice Chairman, was also in illegal possession of an additional 4,300 square feet of adjoining land.

The probe revealed that the accused persons, in connivance with certain JDA officials, abused their official positions to facilitate the illegal allotment and encroachment. “Evidence collected during investigation established the role of the accused in criminal conspiracy and misuse of office,” an ACB officer said.

The Court has taken cognizance of the chargesheet and fixed December 15, 2025, as the next date of hearing in the matter.

The ACB has reiterated its commitment to pursue corruption cases to their logical conclusion, ensuring accountability of public officials found misusing their positions.
