Jammu, September 11: The Press Information Bureau (PIB), Jammu, organised an informative interaction with media representatives in Jammu as part of preparations for the forthcoming journalists’ exposure tour to Bhopal and Indore.
The interaction was aimed at briefing participating journalists about the tour and familiarising them with various aspects of professional journalism, including effective interaction with government officials and other stakeholders, news gathering, verification of information, and developing news stories during field visits.
During the session, Director PIB Jammu Neha Jalali, IIS, and Zakir Malik, IIS, interacted with members of the media fraternity and shared valuable guidance on professional engagement with officials, understanding government initiatives and collecting information from reliable sources.
The discussion also focused on the importance of asking relevant questions, maintaining journalistic objectivity, verifying facts before publication and presenting information accurately and responsibly to the public. The participating journalists were encouraged to make effective use of the exposure tour to understand ground-level developments and broaden their professional perspective.
The interaction was attended by Sarfaraz Ahmed Ganai, Editor-in-Chief of Daily Sada-e-Kohastan; Editor of Refugee Message; Correspondents of Daily Excelsior and INS; and other members of the media fraternity.
The forthcoming visit to Bhopal and Indore is expected to provide participating journalists with an opportunity to interact with officials, visit important institutions and gain first-hand knowledge of developments and initiatives at the field level.
The session concluded on a positive note, with journalists appreciating the initiative and the guidance provided by PIB Jammu.
