Srinagar: Beneficiaries from District Srinagar of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana held a protest against Managing Director Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board accusing them of being incompetent and callous.

“We are all duly verified beneficiaries of the scheme but the present MD is only creating problems for us,” a protester told INS.

They claimed that they have undertaken construction of their households banking upon this scheme, however for unknown reason MD housing board is creating hurdles for them. They accused MD housing board of being incompetent and incapable in implementing the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream project of housing for all.

“We have take loans and undertook construction but from last two years this in capable officer is standing between beneficiaries and PM’s dream project,” said a protester who identified himself as Barkat Ali, from Hawal area.

“Through various verifying agencies like tehsildar, municipality etc, our credentials were verified and declared as eligible for the scheme,” Ali said, adding that after two years of struggle, the MD rather gearing up for work is shrugging his shoulders from responsibilities.

“Such officers should be transferred so that people will have a sigh of relief,” they said.

The protesters named Mr Shahid Saleem, Rashid Mogul as two officers that are becoming hurdle in implementation of the prestigious scheme.
