Srinagar: Government has suspended the Amarnath Yatra today and no pilgrim will be allowed to move towards the valley from Jammu.

Reports said that the decision was taken following a shutdown call by Joint Resistance Leadership, comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik to commemorate July 13, 1931 martyrs.

Qouting police sources, reports said that because the protest shutdown call, movement of the pilgrims from Jammu to Srinagar will remain suspended today.

July 13 is observed as Martyrs Day in Jammu and Kashmir to remember those killed in the firing outside the Srinagar Central Jail by forces of the Dogra Maharaja in 1931.
