Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Women’s Cricket Association (JKWCA) made a sensational start at the Sr. Women’s T10 Cricket Championship, being organised by the Haryana Women’s Cricket Association under the aegis of Women’s Cricket Association of India by beating UP in their first match, played at Tau Devi Lal Stadium, Gurgaon on Friday.
Earlier, UP won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers were helped by some poor bowling to make a good start but JK bowlers ultimately restricted UP to 63 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in their alloted 10 overs.
In reply, Rudrakshi and Sonika from JKWCA showed skills with the bat before Rudrakshi was adjudged LBW on a very low keeping delivery. She scored 10 runs in 9 balls. Then captain Tanisha joined Sonika in the middle and the duo took JKWCA home in just 8.1 overs with their unbeaten individual scores of 10* and 25* respectively.
JKWCA will now take on Chandigarh for their 2nd match of the group scheduled Saturday morning.
JKWCA President, General secretary and all other officials have congratulated team for the promising start and have expressed hope for the brilliant success in the tournament.
