Lahore: Death toll rose to 11 in a deadly suicide bomb blast near Data Darbar shrine in Lahore Pakistan after an injured policemen breathed his last at the medical facility.
The 11th century shrine of Sufi saint Ali Hajvari popularly known as Data Darbar, is one of the most revered shrines in Pakistan.
“11 people, including six police commandos have died in the blast while 26 others are injured,” Geo News reported.
A CCTV footage showed that a teenage boy wearing black ‘shalwar kameez’ and a suicide vest came closer to the vehicle of elite force and blew himself up.
Lahore police spokesperson Syed Mubashir was quoted in media reports saying that the suspect made no suspicious moments and was almost 15 years old.
The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (JeA), a breakaway faction of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), claimed responsibility for the attack.
