Srinagar: Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, chairperson Hurriyat Conference (M), has termed the of closing down of Kashmir highway for two days in a week a “dictatorial” measure.
He has asked government to withdraw the order that will bar people from using the highway.
“Another anti-people dictatorial move of the government to close the national highway for two days which will cause great distress to people. Government should withdraw this diktat and stop punishing people of Kashmir,” he tweeted.
Government yesterday announced that no civilian traffic will be allowed on the highway from Udhampur in Jammu till Baramulla for two days (Sunday and Wednesday) every week.
They move, government said, was to facilitate movement of forces for the upcoming parliamentary elections.
