Timber smugglers attack forest officials in Shopian, officer injured

Shopian: An officer of Forest Department was injured after they were attacked by timber smugglers on Thursday in Shopian village.
Forest Officials told INS that a team was attacked by timber smugglers at Tharian area of Keller Shopian last night.

They added that the team was headed by Mohammed Abdullah Bhat.
They had intercepted smugglers carrying timber on horses near the village.
“On stopping the smugglers they attacked the official’s with sharp weapons in which our one officer was seriously injured. He was shifted to Pulwama hospital where from he was referred to SMHS,” they said..
Police has filed a case in the incident.
