Fresh snowfall in Srinagar, other parts of Valley

Srinagar: Srinagar, the summer capital of the state and other parts of Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Wednesday
When this report was filed, it was snowing in Srinagar along with two other districts of central Kashmir–Budgam and Ganderbal besides other parts of the Valley. The snow has brought mercury appreciable down across the Valley.
Overnight, Gulmarg, the world famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, received fresh snowfall along with other higher reaches while rains lashed most parts of the Valley.
A meteorological department official said Srinagar—the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir –received 17.4mm of rainfall, mostly during the night. It also recorded a minimum temperature of 2.4 Degrees Celsius against 4.7 degrees Celsius normal for this time of the season, the official said.
Qazigund, the gateway town of Kashmir witnessed 13mm of rain in 24-hours till 0830 hours on Wednesday and recorded a low of 3.7 degrees Celsius while the mercury at Kokernag, also in south Kashmir, settled at a low of 2.8 degrees Celsius.
Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of 1.3 degrees Celsius and rainfall of 41.2mm, highest in entire Kashmir Valley, he said.
Gulmarg, the famous ski-resort in north Kashmir, amassed 20 centimetres of fresh snow and recorded a low of minus 2.0 degrees Celsius while the famous health resort of Pahalgam witnessed 8.4 mm of rainfall and registered a minimum of minus 1.6 degrees Celsius, the official added.
The weatherman has forecast rains at most places in Jammu and Kashmir in next 24-hours.
