Srinagar: Representatives of Chemists and Druggists of Kashmir on Monday assured the Divisional Commissioner Baseer Ahmad Khan that they have enough medicine supply in to last for more than a month and refuted the reports of shortage of stocks. A certain section of Press has carried a news report regarding the shortage of medicines in the Valley.
In this regard, an emergency meeting was convened today by the Divisional Commissioner with the Chemists & Druggists Association, Kashmir to evaluate the position about the availability of drugs and medicines, including Insulin and other Life Saving Drugs in the valley.
As per the feedback given by the Association, there is absolutely no dearth of medicine in the Valley especially Insulin and other Life Saving Drugs.
It was intimated by the Association that available stocks of Insulin and other emergency drugs are sufficient to last for more than a month. Besides, they have also intimated that most of the drugs come by air from the principal suppliers and ventilation of such concern by certain section of Press is not based on facts.
BAseer Khan directed them to keep him abreast with the situation on periodical basis.
Meanwhile, as per the information collected from various hospitals, the Divisional Commissioner reiterated that there is no shortage of medicines and the stocks are sufficient to cater to the requirement across the Kashmir valley, an official spokesman said.
