BASHARAT RASHID
TRAL: The residents of Nimrah Colony, Hamzah Colony-B and Madina Colony in outskirts of Tral are up in arms against Power Development Department for failing to resolve frequent damage to the common electric transformer.
Locals said 63 KVA transformer near granary for three colonies of Tral town develops ‘technical snags’ frequently.
“From September 12 last year, transformer suffered damage eleven times till the date and is still damaged as a result of which people are subjected to immense hardships.”
“Despite repeated requests from people, PDD authorities took some initiatives by sanctioning two separate transformers for Madina and Hamza colony, but they failed to place them in those colonies,” a local said.
He said infrastructure for the transformers is already in place in both the colonies but sanctioned transformers are yet to be placed due to which all the three colonies suffer.
The locals demanded intervention of concerned authorities in ending power crisis facing them.
They particularly demand installation of newly sanctioned transformer at Madina and Hamza colony.
Assistant Executive Engineer, Electricity Sub Division Tral, Mohammad Maqbool Ahanger told INS that the one transformer will be given within two to three days while another one will installed after sometime.
