Baramulla: A fierce gunfight between militants and government forces has started at Drusoo Behrampora village in Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district, sources said on Friday.
After neighboring Kupwara district, authorities have also snapped internet in the Baramulla as part of the routine security exercise whenever encounter starts anywhere in the Valley.
Reports reaching to INS that Army’s 22 RR, Special Operation Group (SOG) of police and CRPF sealed off whole Behrampora and adjoining areas and started door to door search operation last night. As the forces approached towards a particular house, militants hiding inside it opened fire, triggering off a gunfight around midnight.
Sources said that government forces believe that there are at least two local militants trapped in the area. More details are awaited. (file picture for illustration purposes)
