Educational institutes in Sopore, Kupwara closed

Srinagar: All educational institutions have been closed in Kupwara district and Sopore Sub division in north Kashmir on Friday.

The decision to keep educational institutes  has been taken in wake of the killing of two militants in Lolab area yesterday and an ongoing gunfight in Sopore.

Two Hizb militants Zahoor Ahmad Mir and Bilal Ahmed Shah were killed in a brief gunfight at Khumriyal in Lolab.

In sopore encounter two militants are believed to be killed one among them a local from Naseer abad sopore and other is believed to be from South Kashmir. But identity has not been confirmed by the police yet.

Pertinently, a civilian was also critically injured in Kupwara area after government forces opened fire on protesters.

According to official sources the decision to close the educational institution has been taken “as a precautionary measure”.
