SONAMARG: The J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides concluded their 9th District Camporee at Thajiwas, Sonamarg.

Director Disaster Management,  Aamir Ali, implored the children to follow principles of scouting, so that they become, responsible citizens. The training on disaster preparedness was imparted by the NDRF Team, under the command of Inspector SundhirBahuguna. The NDRF team is temporarily stationed at Baltal for Amarnathji Yatra.

198 boy scouts, from 11 schools and 150 girl guides, from 8 schools, participated in the camp. During the camp the participants were imparted training in disaster preparedness, skill development, making of knots, hiking, cooking, flag hoisting, tent pitching etc. They also participated in cultural activities like Naats, songs, drawing,

The participating schools included, Government Higher Secondary School, Chattabal, Government Girls Higher Secondary School Khanyar, Green Valley Education Institute, Kashmir Harward Educational Institute, Legends Public School, Bonnivent English Medium School, Oak Hill Public School, International Educational School, Tiny Tots, Fable Educational School, Sheikh-ul-Alam Educational Institute, USA Open Rover, USA Units Scouts etc.

The Guest of Honour was M.A. Tramboo, State Organising Commissioner Bharat Scouts and Guides. Others who spoke were P.R. Kotwal Camp Organiser, Camp Director Imran Khan. The participating children were distributed awards and mementoes for various events and activities.
