TRAL : Heavy rainfall and strong winds lashed some Tral areas on Monday night triggering flash floods in nearby water canal and causing widespread damage to the standing crop due to winds.
As per locals, standing crop has been damaged. Many areas adjoining Kahlil, Tral witnessed heavy rainfall and and winds, caused heavy damage to the standing crop and vegetables in the area.
The areas include Wazilkulnad, Nagapathri and many parts of Lalpora Kahlil in Tral sub district.
Farmers of the area are the worried lot as high velocity winds and rain have affected the prospects of a good crop yield.
“We were expecting good yield this year but to our dismay squally winds and regular spells of rain have badly damaged the crop,” said a resident from Wazilkulnad Tral.
