Deputy commissioner Rajouri had asked BGSBU to cooperate or the case be sent to police. According to complaint by students   ‘VC, Registrar and some other senior faculty members accused of shielding harassers’ and according to sources ”they are making all out efforts to minimise damage.’

A statement issued by BGSBU Media Cell said: “A compact disc was received by chairperson Women Cell, BGSBU through post on April 9, 2018 at 4.16 pm. She immediately handed over the same to the Vice Chancellor the same day at 5.15 pm. The Vice Chancellor having gone through the content of the CD, has decided that the matter will be further investigated by the Competent Inquiry Committee. In the meanwhile Dr. Asghar Ali Shah, Associate Professor, BGSBU against whom the complaint has been made has been placed under suspension with immediate effect, pending inquiry.”

Pertinently, DC Rajouri had given accused faculty members and Registrar to appear before Local Compliant Committee for examination, which the Registrar refused saying that the Universe is autonomous. JK Government has also sought report from VC within a week.

DC Rajouri, who is extremely popular in the region and is known for brutal fairness and justice in attending to serious misconduct by public servants, is being commended by civil society organizations and feminists for forcing the BGSBU authorities to act under law.

Earlier, through press communiqués, Registrar BGSBU, who is also accused of shielding Dr. Shah, has stated that there is no case of sexual harassment in the University and even if there is, the University authorities will take action within the domain of the University.
