Jammu, Feb 16: Panic gripped the border belt of R.S. Pura on Sunday evening after three inmates escaped from the Juvenile Observation Home in Sector R.S. Pura at around 5:05 pm, allegedly after attacking on-duty police personnel. Two policemen were also injured in the attack.

According to official sources, the inmates overpowered the guards and fled from the facility, triggering an immediate security alert across the district. The escapees have been identified as two Pakistani nationals — Ahsan Anwar and Mohd. Sanaullah — along with Karanjit Singh alias Gugga, a resident of R.S. Pura.

Soon after the incident, Jammu Police launched a massive manhunt to trace and apprehend the absconding juveniles. All naka points across Jammu district have been activated, with intensified vehicle checking and frisking underway.

Police sources said that surprise checking has been started not only within Jammu city but also in the outskirts and adjoining areas. Border routes and sensitive locations are under strict surveillance to prevent any possible movement of the escapees.

Senior officers have rushed to the spot to assess the situation, and additional forces have been deployed in R.S. Pura and other vulnerable pockets. Security agencies are coordinating efforts to track the trio at the earliest.

More details regarding the incident are awaited.
