JAMMU: Minister for Education and Finance, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari has called for immediate halt on axing the fruit bearing trees at Wadoora Campus of SKUAST in North Kashmir.

According to reports the orchard is being axed indiscriminately. Even after the orchard is of heritage value.

Bukhari expressed concern over the axing of fruit bearing trees and  said the orchard at of campus Wadoora has Heritage value.

“The orchard is about a century old and is famous for its Pear fruits. Have called for immediate halt on axing the fruit bearing trees,” Bukhari said on Friday.

The Minister requested Minister for Horticulture to kindly intervene in the matter to save the heritage orchard.
