Srinagar, Nov 15: Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi on Wednesday directed officials to complete all works on student hostels by the end of December this year and to make them operational immediately thereafter.

Andrabi, at KU North Campus at Delina, Baramulla, also assured that the vacant teaching and non-teaching positions at the North Campus shall be filled up soon to augment the staff strength.

KU VC was on a day-long tour, to north campus, reviewing the pace of under-construction infrastructure projects and inquired from the students and faculty about their needs and requirements.

According to statement issued here, Prof Andrabi reiterated that he wanted to see the satellite campuses emerge as specialised campuses offering job-oriented and skill-based professional courses so that students from across the state prefer to study there.

Prof Andrabi was accompanied by Registrar Prof Khurshid A Butt, Executive Engineer Mufti Burhan Shah, Joint Registrar (Development), Dr Tanveer Ahmad Shah and PRO to Vice-Chancellor, Faheem Aslam.
