Srinagar: Member of Legislative Assembly  Sheikh Abdul Rashid appeared before the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for questioning at it head quarters in Delhi, on Tuesday.

Rashid, an independent MLA from Langate, is the first mainstream politician to have been summoned by the NIA in the case of terror funding.

“After trial in the media started about my name, I had approached the speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to initiate a probe and find out the truth,” Rashid was quoted by media agencies having said to reporters before entering the NIA office.
