Srinagar: Aganwadi workers who have been protesting for the past six days have decided to call off their strike for one week following their meeting with Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today.
Chairperson of the association Tasleema Subhan told INS that they had a meeting with Divisional Commissioner today who assured them their demands will be met within one week.
“He ( Baseer Khan) had a video conferencing session with Minister for Social Welfare Sajjad Gani Lone in front of us and he assured us that all our demands will be met within one week following which we have decided to call off our protests for one week,” Tasleema said.
Earlier hundreds of aganwadi workers staged a sit- in- protest and blocked the busy Residency Road in the city centre for about an hour. The protesting workers raised slogans against the state government and in favour of their demands.
The Aganwadi workers were protesting for the past six days demanding a increase in their wages to Rs 10,000 a month and regularization of their services.
