Srinagar: Police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two burglars in Srinagar after a hot chase on Tuesday and recovered gold items worth Rs 10 lakh from them.
A police official told INS Amir Ahmed Zargar son Altaf Zargar of Deviangan Mukhdoomsahib and Manzoor Ahmed Bhat alias sonu and sunda son of Muhammad Rafiq Bhat of Gulshan Nagar bye pass Srinagar.
“The duo was arrested on credible inputs regarding their involvement in case (FIR no. 149/2017 u/s 454, 380 RPC at police station Saddar), after a hot chase on highway when they were trying to flee,” the police official said.
On their disclosure, the official said, the stolen property including golden ornaments –3 golden pound, 1 bracelet, 3 golden chains, 3 golden rings, 1 Pair ear ring—worth rupees ten lakhs has been recovered.
Besides this, police said, two toy pistols, as many sharp edged weapons and a wheel wrench were also recovered from the duo.
“These tools were used in house breaking and threatening the inmates,” the official said. A case (FIR No. 149/2017 u/s 454,380 RPC has been solved.”
Amir was earlier been involved in a burglary case (FIR no. 10/2017 u/s 454,380 RPC) of Police station Sadder, the official said. “Police station Sadder had recently arrested another gang of burglars and had recovered property worth lakhs from their possession,” the official said, adding, the drive against the burglaries will continue and more arrests and recoveries are expected.
