Srinagar: Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are indebted to Hazrat Mir Syed Ali Hamdani (RA) popularly known as Shah-e-Hamdan.
She also felicitated people of the State on the annual Urs of the saint. She said people of Jammu & Kashmir are greatly indebted to Hazrat Shah-e-Hamdan (R.A.) for having guided them to the path of righteousness through education, social and other humanitarian services. Equally grateful, she said, people of the State are to the revered saint for bringing along several trades, handicrafts, cuisine and culture through his disciples which later became a USP for the State and its people.
She hoped the annual urs brings along prosperity, welfare and amity among the people of the State.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister visited the shrine of Hazrat Shah i Hamdan (R.A.) at Khankahi Mo’alla, Srinagar and paid her respects there. She reviewed the arrangements put in place for the annual urs including shab khawani, congregational prayers etc. She also interacted with the devotees and sought their feedback.
Chief Minister, who is also the chairperson of the Wakf Board, took stock of the measures being taken for the expansion of the shrine. She directed immediate taking over of the structures identified under the expansion plan. She also directed operationalisation of the fountain in the middle of the shrine and installation of coloured lights to give a soothing ambience.
She also directed beautification of the banks of Jhelum river and also increasing the water transport to the shrine in terms of volume and scale in a time bound manner.
