Srinagar: As the controversy over the lynching remark of PDP minister Imran Ansari against NC’s Devender Rana was stopping to end in the Legislative Assembly from the past two days, Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti Wednesday intervened and ended the controversy by apologizing to the Opposition and the House.
“I was taken aback for sometime by the words. It is not correct to use such words. I apologise to the House for the word,” Mehbooba said.
The CM intervened after the Opposition and ruling legislators were continuously engaging in heated verbal exchanges, even as Rana was demanding registering of FIR against Ansari. Rana applauded the CM and praised her for restoring sanity to the House.
Earlier, Speaker Kavinder Gupta also apologized to the Legislative Assembly for the Ansari remark against Rana and informed the house that the words have been expunged.
“I will lynch you and will expose your shady business,” Ansari had told Rana during a debate on resolution of GST.
Several legislators were creating ruckus in the House due to which the Speaker adjourned the House for more than an hour for lunch break. (KNS)
