Pertinently a fine of Rs 1,37,528 was imposed on Sunday 16th July during the drive.
Field officials of power department also disconnected atleast 7 connections of illegal welding shops operating in residential area. After initial advisory issued by district administration against illegal connections and power thefts stringent action including registration of FIRs is likely to follow. The drive against power theft and illegal connection has been started in order to provide rational power supply to genuine consumers paying power tariff. It was noted that a large number of illegal commercial and private connections have been operating leading to unscheduled power cuts and low voltage problem. Power department has been directed to continue the drive for a greater relief to general public.
A daily feedback and performance reporting system for every sub-division has been established to monitor the performance of field officials and also monitoring the improvement in power supply scenario. Two transformers were also replaced during the day and department has been assigned the task of replacing 20 damaged transformers this week. Transformers in district are now being replaced on first-come-first-served basis and daily damage and replacement report is maintained and monitored by the office of District Development Commissioner. District Administration is also working on replacement of 91 transformers of RGGVY damaged more than a year back.
