Srinagar: Syed Ali Geelani expressed his deep concern over the reports of 162 casualties, including 30 civilians so far been killed at gunfight sites by government forces in Kashmir during past six months.
Blaming Indian authorities for continuous bloodshed, Geelani said that their haughty and stubborn attitude is prime cause of present mayhem.
In a statement issued to KNS, expressing deep grief over the cycle of killings, Syed Ali Geelani said that there is no point to derive any pleasure from present killing cycle or enjoy this carnage.
Syed Ali Geelani with heartfelt and deep sentiments said that those killed during last six months are very much related to our society and interrelated as father, son or brother with respective grieved families. We deeply feel this as loss of precious lives is a lifelong agony for those grieved families, said Geelani.
Since past 27 years we are facing awful situations and killing spree with the result thousands of families were shattered, said Geelani.
Pakistan or people in Kashmir pursuing their right are not to be blamed for this, said Geelani and added that people in state are peace-loving and they with their human heart are always ready to help those in distress, added Geelani.
Referring to the annals of history, Geelani said that people in state through peaceful means pursued their rightful freedom struggle under the banner of Plebiscite Front and Muslim United Front, however, authorities in Delhi never pronounced any serious effort to redress grievances or fulfil their pledge with the people.
Referring to uprising in 2008 & 2010, Geelani said that people to press their demand took to street. They were unnamed and staged peaceful protest to impress authorities & international community, however met brute force.
Lashing at Indian authorities for their inhuman approach, Geelani said that it is the arrogant and stubborn approach of authorities that is giving rise to uncertainty and multiplying human tragedies.
Political space is being choked and freedom of speech denied, said Geelani and added that authorities are executing their age-old practice of detentions and intimidations.
Justifying the reaction from suppressed people, Geelani said that every coercive action has its implications and revolt and likely reactions are expected as it is a law of nature, added Geelani.
Geelani while referring to listing Syed Salah-u-Din as “Global terrorist” by American authorities and said, looking back his thirty-long period of peaceful political carrier, it is quite evident that he is not a terrorist instead a prominent politician and he has a record of contesting election as a candidate for Muslim United Front and however opted other means after they were denied the political space.
Syed Ali Geelani said that during peoples uprising authorities opted and exerted their military might and consequently our youth were left with no other choice except to opt for other means of resentment.
It is ridiculous to blame youth or Pakistan for present appalling situations in state added Geelani. Our youth are intelligent enough and they have talent, added Geelani, however they are being pushed to wall, hence the repercussions are expected, added Geelani.
Referring to Kashmir issue, Geelani said that India is in a position and can help resolve this long pending issue, however sincere efforts are needed to ascertain the aspiration of people about the political destiny of state. It is the only key to solution & to put a halt to continuous bloodshed and uncertainty in the sub-continent, added he. (KNS)
