Srinagar, Jul 7: Two persons lost their lives while seven others were injured in twin road accidents in Kashmir.

A police official said that a black Scorpio vehicle bearing registration number JK02DQ-2585, driven by Jhonty, son of Tarseem Lal, resident of Mershiwala, Akhnoor, Jammu, met with an accident while carrying four other passengers.

All four occupants sustained injuries in the incident. However, the driver Jhonty and one co-passenger, Sono Kumar, son of Ashok Kumar, resident of Dabsora, Jammu, later succumbed to their injuries, he said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation, official said adding that the police have registered a case under relevant sections of law and further proceedings have been initiated.

Meanwhile, four people, including three Amarnath pilgrims from Gujarat and a local taxi driver, sustained minor injuries after their vehicle skidded off the road near Z-Mod, Chandanwari in Pahalgam on Monday.

Officials said that a taxi bearing registration number JK03C-5073 met with an accident near the Chandanwari route when it lost control and slid off the road.

Four persons were injured and three pilgrims were identified as residents of Guzrat, while taxi driver was identified as resident of Pahalgam.

All the injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable, they said.

Local police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated necessary proceedings. (JKNS)
