Srinagar: Scores of students at Degree College Shopian on Monday held protests against the killing of Adil Farooq and clashed with police during which they also hoisted a Pakistani flag.
According to GNS, students of GDC Shopian boycotted their classes and staged protests against Adil Farooq’s killing by government forces last week at Ganavpora during a cordon and search operation. The students shouted pro-freedom, pro-Islam and anti-India slogans inside the College and waved a Pakistani flag.
The students later pelted stones on cops deployed outside their College. Reports said police used dozens of teargas shells against the students. The pitched battles between the two sides continued throughout the day and the area rattled with teargas explosions. Adil was a first year student of Arts and was killed during clashes at Ganavpora.(GNS)
