Srinagar: Students as well as staffers at Hussaini School in HMT area of Srinagar city Monday alleged that soldiers armed with sticks and weapons barged into the school and thrashed some of the students while harassed the teachers.
The students said that army men from nearby 2 RR camp suddenly entered their school and they not only misbehaved with students and staffers but also thrashed some of the students without any provocation.
“They entered the classrooms with sticks and weapons and harassed the students,” they said.
A staffer wishing anonymity said that the army action was uncalled for. He said that the army men had entered into an altercation with a mini-bus driver and they instead of sorting out the matter with the bus driver harassed the school students and teachers.
Srinagar based Defense Spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said that army went into the school to counsel those who were pelting stones next to the army camp. “Some students were pelting stones next to the army camp. The Company Commander counseled the students and advised them not to indulge in such activities. No student or teacher was harassed,” he said. (CNS)
