Kupwara: Alama Anwar Shah Memorial Library in the heart of main town of  northern Kashmirs kupwara district is functioning without internet facility, without latest edition of journals and magazines and with clinched staff strength. Single librarian looking after over 32000 books with no proper catalog. 

The Alama Anwar Shah Memorial Library which came up in 1981 with all the latest additions in it is lying in shambles conditions from months with least attention from it’s concerned authorities and district administration kupwara.

The library has a single employee looking after over 32000 books and other stuff of the library.

“I am the only official here for everything,” Aijaz Ahmad Qureshi said. “A times I couldn’t locate a specific book due to the unavailability of proper staff strength, apparatus like catalogue and other equipments needed to run the library normally and provide all the aspirants the best reads they can have,” he said.

The separate rooms with projector and Internet services meant for the aspirants appearing in competitive exams like JE, NEET and others is lying defunct for months now due to the unpaid dues of Broadband connection.

“Those ten computers are gathering dust,” he said.

“Will ask the concerned librarian for feedback in this regard and will look into it. We will  do what needs to be done in this regard”, Deputy Commosioner Kupwara Khalid Jahangir said.
