DGP reviews security scenario in rural areas of South Kashmir

Srinagar, August 14: Director General of Police (DGP) Jammu and Kashmir, Nalin Prabhat, accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, on Thursday visited rural areas of Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts to review the prevailing security situation and assess the preparedness of the security apparatus on the ground.

During his visit, the DGP took a detailed assessment of the ground-level security grid and reviewed the arrangements put in place across the three districts. He interacted with officers deployed in the respective areas and took stock of their operational preparedness, security measures and coordination mechanisms.

The DGP was briefed by the concerned officers about the prevailing security environment, deployment arrangements and measures being undertaken to maintain peace and stability in the rural belts of South Kashmir.

The visit also focused on strengthening coordination among different security agencies and ensuring that the security apparatus remains fully prepared to respond effectively to any emerging challenges.

DGP Nalin Prabhat emphasized the importance of maintaining vigilance, operational readiness and effective coordination at the grassroots level. He also reviewed the measures being adopted by the police and security forces to ensure the safety and security of the people.

The visit assumes significance in view of the need for continuous assessment of security arrangements in rural and vulnerable areas of South Kashmir. The DGP’s field-level review was aimed at identifying emerging challenges, strengthening the existing security grid and ensuring prompt response capabilities.

Senior police officers accompanying the DGP also held interactions with field formations and reviewed the implementation of security measures in their respective areas.

The police leadership reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace, security and public safety across Jammu and Kashmir while ensuring effective preparedness to deal with any emerging security situation.
