Srinagar, June 20: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Sakina Itoo, on Friday confirmed that the government has already initiated an inquiry into the alleged irregularities and fraud reported in the Cardiology Department of Government Medical College Anantnag and that the doctor concerned has been placed under suspension pending investigation.
Responding to media queries regarding the alleged scam in the department, the Health Minister said that the inquiry process had already been set in motion by the department and authorities are awaiting the findings of the investigation.
“We have already started the inquiry and have suspended the doctor concerned,” Sakina Itoo said while commenting on the allegations that have triggered concern among patients and the public.
When asked about the alleged fraud in the Cardiology Department, the Minister maintained that it would be premature to draw conclusions before the inquiry report is finalized. “Let the inquiry be completed,” she stated.
The Minister further emphasized that the government is committed to ensuring accountability and transparency in the healthcare sector. She said that strict action would be taken against anyone found involved in wrongdoing.
“The inquiry had already been initiated by the department earlier. We are now waiting for the report, and whoever is found guilty will be punished as per the law,” she added.
The allegations surrounding the Cardiology Department of GMC Anantnag have sparked widespread public debate, with demands from various quarters for a fair and transparent investigation. The Health and Medical Education Department has assured that the matter is being examined thoroughly and that appropriate legal and departmental action will follow based on the findings of the inquiry.
