J&K Police Bags National Passport Seva Excellence Award for 2nd Consecutive Year

Srinagar, June 20: Jammu and Kashmir Police has once again brought laurels to the Union Territory by being adjudged the Best Performer in Passport Seva for the year 2025–26, securing the prestigious national recognition for the second consecutive year and reaffirming its commitment towards efficient, transparent and citizen-centric public service delivery.

The award was conferred during the Passport Seva Divas celebrations organized by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on June 18 and 19. J&K Police received the coveted Institutional Performance Award for State Police in recognition of its outstanding contribution to passport verification services and seamless public service facilitation.

The prestigious Certificate of Recognition was presented by the Minister of State for External Affairs and received on behalf of J&K Police by SSP SB CID, who represented the force at the national-level function.

According to an official statement, J&K Police successfully completed 1,64,354 passport application verifications between April 2025 and March 2026, reflecting exceptional efficiency, professionalism and dedication in processing passport-related services across the Union Territory.

The Ministry of External Affairs commended J&K Police for streamlining verification procedures, significantly reducing turnaround time and maintaining close coordination with Passport Seva Kendras, thereby ensuring faster, reliable and hassle-free passport services for citizens.

Expressing satisfaction over the achievement, the Director General of Police, J&K, said the recognition is a testament to the unwavering dedication, commitment and hard work of officers and personnel who have consistently strived to make passport services more accessible, transparent and efficient for the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

The DGP noted that the accomplishment reflects the force’s resolve to deliver quality public services and strengthen citizen trust through responsive policing and effective governance.

The initiative has not only enhanced public confidence in police services but has also facilitated ease of travel and supported the educational, professional and personal aspirations of thousands of citizens across Jammu and Kashmir.

The award further underscores J&K Police’s commitment to excellence in public service delivery and reinforces its standing as a model of people-friendly, accountable and efficient policing in the country. (KNC)
