F&ES responds to 11 incidents across Kashmir in 24 hours

Srinagar, Jan 6: The Fire and Emergency Services Department attended to 11 fire-related incidents across different districts of the Kashmir region during the past 24 hours, officials said.

Timely and coordinated response by fire units ensured that all incidents were swiftly brought under control, preventing any loss of life and major damage to property, official said.

According to officials, a cow shed was damaged in a fire at Rawalpora Matipota in Ajas area of Bandipora. In Srinagar, dry grass caught fire near the Royal Spring Golf Course close to Lalit Ghat, while a room of a three-storeyed residential house was affected in Wazirbagh near LD Bagh.

In Ganderbal district, a single-storey GCI-made shed was involved in a fire incident at Pehlipora, Safapora. Budgam reported two incidents, including a fire affecting forest trees at Wazibagh in Char-e-Sharief and another involving a gas cylinder at Soibugh.

Anantnag district witnessed multiple fire incidents, including a cow shed fire at Laditahwot, a chinar tree catching fire at Mandipora in Dooru, and a residential house damaged in Sheikhpora, Sallar. In Pulwama’s Zainapora area, two hay stacks were gutted in a fire at Gujar Basti, while a residential house caught fire at Kachloo in Qaziabad area of Kupwara.

Officials said all the fires were controlled in time by Fire and Emergency Services personnel and no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, ADGP Fire and Emergency Services Alok Kumar appealed to the public to strictly follow fire safety norms, ensure careful use of electrical appliances and gas cylinders, and promptly report any fire incident to the nearest fire station or control room to minimize damage. (KNC)
