Kokernag, Dec 29: The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag has ordered the temporary closure of the Daksum-Sinthan Top–Chhatroo Road (NH-244) and the Gowran–Margan Top Road in view of heavy snowfall and deteriorating road conditions, officials said on Monday.

According to an official order, snowfall during the intervening night of December 28 and 29, coupled with forecasts of further snowfall over the coming days, has rendered the routes unsafe for vehicular movement. The decision has been taken in the interest of public safety.

The order states that vehicular traffic on both roads will remain suspended until further instructions. The routes will be reopened only after snow clearance operations are completed by the concerned departments and the roads are certified fit for traffic.

The Station House Officer (SHO) Larnoo has been directed to strictly enforce the closure on the ground by ensuring effective barricading at designated naka points and preventing any unauthorized movement during the closure period.

Authorities have appealed to the general public and all concerned departments to strictly adhere to the order to avoid any untoward incidents.
